Pondering in the Shower

I was in the shower this morning, enjoying the hot water, not ready to get to the actual cleaning, so I decided to read the back of the shampoo bottle. It has "directions." Do you really need directions for your shampoo? Anyways, it says, "Rinse and repeat." What a thinly veiled ploy that is to get you to use more shampoo than you actually need. Which led me to think about something I read online the other day. I was on a forum for cloth diapering (granola mom alert), reading about the best washing methods, and one lady declared that, even on her regular clothes, she only uses half of the recommended amount of detergent. Her reasoning was, do you really think the detergent company would tell you the exact amount to use? Don't you think they're going to tell you to use a little more than necessary so you'll blow through their product faster and go buy more? This freaks me out a little. How many manufacturers could be lying to us?

Cows do it too. Those expiration dates on milk cartons are crap. Just so somebody will come and empty their swollen teets more often.

That's annoying. I am sure that I use way to much of all my cleaning supplies now. And by the way, we cloth diaper and love it. Surprise you? Doubtful.

my grandmother swears that expiration dates are a load of bunk! i use 1/2 cup on the laundry detergent, and have pondered making my own, but i do love tide.....i have read a blog from a lady with more kiddos than me that swears by a tsp of ajax for her laundry detergent. and i should not read your blog about your half-nekked youngin while tryin to work and talk to people on the phone. i was trying not to laugh out loud. that's harder than it sounds. :) oh yeah, and since i'm rolling my comments into one entry - the no dairy thing has to be some circle of hell or something. sorry for you, but there will be expired milk waiting for you as a consolation prize when you're done nursing!
